Break my heart =(

Garrett cried as I left daycare today for the first time EVER! I sat him down, gave him a few toys, kissed him on the head, told him I loved him and the next thing I know he is crying! He pulled on my heart strings so I turned around, gave him another hug and kiss and then walked out. He was still upset.

Good thing today is Thursday-Friday and we have the next three days together!

Palmfest 2009

Matt, Garrett and I (Madison was with her Dad) were invited to Palmfest 2009 this past weekend! What a fun event, I can only imagine how much more fun it would have been with warmer weather =) Palmfest is a big huge party/picnic with fried anything (really, they even threw in a couple of hot dogs!) home brewed beer (Matt loved it) and the kicker is a 100 ft slip n slide!! It was amazing!! This is an event where kids can be kids - and even the adults can be kids!! The weather was less than desirable for the party (see the picture of Garrett sporting his winter hat and snowsuit) but the kids had fun and from what I hear the adults had a great time too!! a BIG thank-you to the Palmer Family for the invitation - looking forward to next year!

New Ride

We opened and put together this ride n stand toy that had been hiding in Garrett's closet since our baby shower! He loves it...even more than the cardboard box it came it! Check him out...

Camping @ Black Lake

Yes, we did it!! We survived our first family camping trip in the pop-up camper! In an effort to avoid the final weekend of the Cherry Festival we loaded up the camper and both of our trucks and headed for Black Lake! Thank you Aunt Lynn and Uncle Bob for letting us set up shop at Schell Resort!

I’m not a camper…never was and most likely never will be BUT Matt really enjoys it and Madison could NOT get out in that camper fast enough. She was packed on Tuesday…for our Friday departure! So far Garrett follows in his Dad’s camping footsteps!!

We had a rainstorm (thunder, lighting…the whole bit) the first night and while I would have been in favor of packing it all in and heading home my family wouldn’t hear of it. We were lucky enough to have Aunt Lynn and Uncle Bob watching over us on this first time out…they fed us dinner Friday night, joined us for pizza Saturday and cooked breakfast for us on Sunday!! Thank you Aunt Lynn and Uncle Bob!!

I’ll share some very important things I learned on this trip: 1) I still don’t like camping – not even in a pop-up, 2) my kids camp WAY better than I do, they even enjoy it, 3) camping isn’t any easier when you substitute two kids for two dogs – not even at the Schell Resort and perhaps the most important thing I learned is 4) I will not be camping Labor Day 2009. I am proud to say that I will be day camping with my kids…Matt can take that pop-up and the dogs and have a grand ole time!

By the way...Madsion WAS with us, I swear! She was just too busy having fun to get her picture taken...kids to play with, no time for Mom =(

WE HAVE A TOOTH!!

I swear that Garrett has been teething since the day he was born and the boy finally cut a tooth!! Look close and you can see the TWO white spots on the bottom! Not the best picture but this is what we got =)

Garrett's First Boat Trip

We spent July 4th on the waters of Grand Traverse Bay with Jack, Sarah, Gracie & Jud Davis - THANK YOU for the invitation! Madison wasn't able to join us this time out but rest assured that she had a fun filled day with her Dad - topped off with fireworks!

This was Garrett's first boating (or yachting as Sarah calls it) trip out and since I didn't know what to expect I planned for the unexpected - and packed for a week! We only spent the afternoon on the water but as you will see I took the bumbo seat and the stroller - along with several other baby items (er, bags of baby items?!?).

A fun time was had by all and we look forward to hanging with the Davis Clan again soon!

First Aid

Garrett got his first day care ouchy =( He was playing on the floor and another child walked by and just happened to drop the toy they were carrying right on his forehead! He had a little red mark when I picked him up but he was so smiley that it must not have bothered him too much. Now I just need to find out which "child" it was....and take them out! Just kidding....maybe!
